Mine Closure 2024 Site Visit

26–28 November 2024 | The Westin Perth, Western Australia

Alcoa Site Visit

As part of Mine Closure 2024, the ACG is facilitating a site visit to Alcoa’s Western Australian operations.

Alcoa mines bauxite in the state’s southwest and rehabilitates the land afterwards returning the jarrah forest. The company then value adds to the ore by turning it into alumina at its nearby refineries. The alumina is then shipped to Alcoa’s smelter in Victoria, and similar operations around the world, to be turned into aluminium – an important metal in our everyday lives and green energy future.
